| March 9, 2026

This year in Mai (23-24.05.2026), theOpen Hardware Summit (OHS 2026), is organised in Berlin, in the main building of the TU Berlin. The Open.Make project (and our partner project LAUDS Factories) will be presented quite extensively, and a specific 3 ECTS course module at the TU Berlin will bring students in contact with open source hardware topics.

This year at the Pentecost weekend in Mai (23-24.05.2026), the TU Berlin main building will serve as an international hub for the open hardware community. The Open Hardware Summit (OHS 2026), organized by the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA), will take place in Germany for the first time in 2026. The Open.Make project (and our partner project LAUDS Factories) will be presented quite extensively.

We are indeed involved in the organisation as the local partner, proposing a specific course for TU Berlin students (this allowed to grow our teaching port-folio and provide the TU Berlin rooms for free). 15 students will be selected as part of an open call.

Around 300 participants from all over the world are expected to attend, including developers, artists, start-ups, researchers, and makers who are enthusiastic about open technologies. As in the past, the two-day program will feature lectures, hands-on workshops, exhibitions and arts installations featuring open hardware and diversity in the maker scene, thereby actively pushing the topics of feminism and decolonisation. Topics such as sustainable hardware development, repairability, open-source chips, and community-driven manufacturing and production will be the focus. In addition, there will be networking formats and local satellite events in Berlin’s maker and hacker spaces as well as at our institute.

For instance, we will run a satellite workshop on Friday 22nd to develop business model framework for LAUDS Factories. While we are still discussing whether the BUA Mobile Lab will be exhibited during the event, we will be present with one talk and one workshop.

We are looking to see you there !
